The Church asks us to focus on simple living, prayer and fasting especially during the Holy Season of Lent.  Please join us for an evening of meditative and contemplative candlelight prayer service, using the tradition and music of Taize.

What is a Taize Prayer Service? It is a contemplative way of praying and chanting punctuated by silence in between chants and scripture reading.   It originated in Taize, France where a monastic community of brothers, founded in the 1940s, pray and work together. They emphasize service and ecumenism.  The simplicity of their work and prayer life has attracted millions of pilgrims, most especially the young adults, retreating from their busy and noisy life. Today, the Taizé Community is made up of over a hundred brothers, Catholics and from various Protestant backgrounds, coming from around thirty nations. Religious congregations and parishes all over the world, including the Vatican, hold Taize Prayer Service in the spirit of ecumenism.  For more information, please visit their website at www.taize.fr

During this Season of Lent, let us journey together to the Foot of the Cross and Encounter Christ through Meditative Songs, Scripture Readings and Silence amidst the flickering lights of candles surrounding our sacred space.   Parents of CFF students in  a sacramental year can count this towards workshop hours.
