Life Teen

Youth - Life Teen

It is Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness; He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; He is the beauty to which you are so attracted; it is He who provoked you with that thirst for fullness that will not let you settle for compromise; it is He who urges you to shed the masks of a false life; it is He who reads in your hearts your most genuine choices, the choices that others try to stifle."

St. John Paul II

Good Shepherd youth group is a community of high school youth in the Good Shepherd Catholic community, and a part of the larger Life Teen community. We meet up for youth group nights (Life Nights) and other events both in the parish and outside of the parish. Our youth program provides Christian fellowship, community, and prayer for any and all high school youth.

Life Teen is an international youth ministry organization that provides catechesis, materials, and support for parish youth groups, as well as putting on and hosting several youth events throughout the U.S. See video below.
Our Good Shepherd Youth group is a Life Teen youth group, taking part in the international Life Teen community and following the Life Teen mission which, in turn, follows the evangelical mission of the Church.

As a Eucharist-centered movement within the Roman Catholic Church, Life Teen leads teenagers and their families into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. With the Blessed Virgin Mary as our intercessor and guide, Life Teen seeks to unleash the fullness of the Sacramental power present within the young Church.

Every Sunday 5-8:30 p.m.

Life Nights are our weekly youth events and the central part of the youth program. We start each Sunday with the 5 p.m. Youth Mass and move from Mass into time for fellowship, games, activities, prayer, and much more. The Life Nights are lead by the youth minister and the Core team, who have been trained in youth ministry and have a passion for leading the teens closer to Christ.

Every Monday 3-6:30 p.m.

Once a week the youth room will be open during after school hours for the youth to come and play games, study, relax, play music, etc. Open Youth Room has no agenda, but is an opportunity for the youth to simply come hang out at the Church with the youth minister and Core members.

The Core Team is a team of committed members of the Church who have chosen to volunteer their time and talents (and even treasures) to minister to the high school teens. With the Good Shepherd Life Teen mission in mind, each Core member is trained in basic youth ministry skills, from facilitating small groups to public speaking to leading prayer sessions. Above all, they are committed to forming relationships with the youth and being a strong witness of the Catholic faith.

Time committment: Sundays 4pm-9pm (Setup, Mass, LifeNight, Takedown), and Mondays 6:30-8 pm (Weekly Core meeting)

How to join: Must be 18+. Fill out the onine application below, and the youth minister will contact you. Any questions can be emailed to lifeteen@gscceg.org

Core Support: Many people desire to minister to the youth, but cannot commit to Core. Being on our Core Support team means that, while you cannot be or are not ready to be on Core Team, you desire to be a part of the youth program and ministering to these teens when it is possible for you. Being on Core Support does not mean you can show up whenever you want without warning. The Core Support list is at the disposal of the youth minister to call upon when needed or desired. If a Core Support member wants to show up to a night, they must ask the youth minister. To join Core support, please email Josh at lifeteen@gscceg.org

Extra Help: For those who desire to support the youth program "behind-the-scenes," we are building a support system just for you. This would include things such as cooking/providing food, or chaperoning, or carpooling, and more. Please email Josh at lifeteen@gscceg.org to be added to the list for extra help.

Prayer Support and more: There are many other ways to support your parish youth, and most important of all is prayer. If Core team, Core Support, or being extra help is not a possibility for you, please consider supporting us through your prayer. Gifts and donations are also more than welcome, whether monetary(for things like event scholarships, etc.) or potential Youth Room supplies(games, instruments, sport equipment, etc.). Email Josh at lifeteen@gscceg.org to support in this way.

Peer Ministry: We also have an opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to be leaders in the program on our Peer Ministry team. Email Josh if interested.

Thank you!

In order to center our youth program on the Eucharist and the sacraments, we have dedicated the 5 pm Sunday mass to the youth, providing homilies, liturgical service, and music oriented towards the youth to better orient them towards the Mass. Every Life Night begins with the Youth Mass at 5 p.m.
The Life Teen Band and Choir lead the music in the liturgy at the Youth Mass, as well as leading music at Life Nights. Currently, the Band is not accepting new members, but if you are interested in joining the Choir, please email Josh at lifeteen@gscceg.org

Be who you were created to be, and you will set the world on fire."

What is Life Teen?

Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity."
