Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

Have you suffered the loss of a baby during pregnancy or after birth? If you or someone you know has, you are not alone.  Many times, we or people around us don’t know where or how to begin to honor the death of our child or how to begin the healing. With help from God, our faith, and each other, the Elizabeth Ministry would like to give you the opportunity to honor the many babies we hold in our hearts.  As we enter Respect for Life month and Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day on October 15th initiated by President Ronald Reagan, all parents, family members and friends are welcome to participate in mass and candlelight vigil and prayer service Saturday, October 15. We will have time for fellowship and will provide supplies for you to personalize candles at 3:30-4:45 pm in the St. John Paul II room next to the church office. Then everyone is invited to 5 pm mass where special intentions will be read and immediately following mass, we will gather in the Our Lady of the Divine Shepherd Prayer Garden for our 4th Annual Candlelight Prayer Service and light refreshments. To create a 24 hour “wave of light” world wide, families in all time zones are invited to light candles at 7 pm for an hour wherever you may be.  This is to remember those babies who have passed on from any situation such as miscarriage, still birth, regretted abortion, illness or other unfortunate situation. For more information on national events and background, the official website is http://www.october15th.com. This is a free evening that is open to the public and an R.S.V.P. isn't required. If you have any questions, would like to let us know you are coming or if you can't attend and would like a family or baby name added to our prayer intentions this night, please contact the church office or email elizabethministry@gscceg.org.
