The Grove Youth Ministry

It is Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness; He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; He is the beauty to which you are so attracted; it is He who provoked you with that thirst for fullness that will not let you settle for compromise; it is He who urges you to shed the masks of a false life; it is He who reads in your hearts your most genuine choices, the choices that others try to stifle."

St. John Paul II

The Grove

The Grove Youth Ministry is a community focused on providing opportunities for the youth at Good Shepherd Catholic Church to encounter Christ. There will be gatherings throughout the year to socialize and develop friendships, to learn and explore the Catholic faith, and most importantly, to build upon their relationship with Jesus Christ. One of our goals here at The Grove is to be a community that supports our young people in being the "Now of God," protagonists, and missionary disciples.

Requirements

All youth attending must fill out the Diocesan Youth Permission form.  The link for it will be on sidebar on the left.

Activities and Events

"Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity."

- 1 Timothy 4:12

Sundays 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Our Sunday youth events are a central part of the youth program. We start each Sunday after the 5 p.m. Mass with time for fellowship, food, games, activities, prayer, and much more. These events are lead by a team of youth ministers who have been trained in youth ministry and have a passion for leading the teens closer to Christ.

"Do not be afraid. Do not be satisfied with mediocrity. Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch."

- St. John Paul II

Thursdays 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Youth Empowered by the Spirit! (YES!) is one of The Grove's responses to forming teen disciples. This program provides a space for our young people to seek fellowship with one another and learn to be leaders in the faith for their peers.

Tuesdays 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Our Bible Study sessions are an opportunity for teens to analyze the Bible in depth to learn and discuss the lessons within. These sessions are planned in three seasonal segments.  Four sessions for the Advent Season, four sessions during Lent, and four sessions in Easter.

Our Team

"Be who you were created to be, and you will set the world on fire."

- St. Catherine of Siena

The Grove Team is a team of committed members of the Church who have chosen to volunteer their time and talents (and even treasures) to minister to middle and high school teens. With our mission in mind, each Grove Team member is trained in basic youth ministry skills, from facilitating small groups to public speaking to leading prayer sessions. Above all, they are committed to forming Christ-centered relationships with the youth and being strong witnesses of the Catholic faith.

We on the Grove Youth Ministry Team are committed to serving our parish through our own relationship with Christ and planning, preparing, and executing the Grove Youth Ministry’s events and activities throughout the year to lead others closer to Christ. These events and activities include but are not limited to Grove Youth Nights, Grove Family Prayer Nights, Grove Retreats, Grove Bible Studies, Grove Praise Nights, etc.
