Weekly Reflection - 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time (2026)
"Behold the Lamb of God " (Jn 1:29)
This is the 2nd Sunday of Ordinary Time. St. John the Baptist fulfilled his mission by giving witness to Christ. He was not the word but only the voice. When he pointed out the Christ, John's followers left him. Instead of feeling jealous, he gave glory to God and departed from the scene.
Our mission like John's is to point out Jesus to others. This is done by the holiness of our lives and by word when the moment is opportune. We know that John's mission ultimately was sealed by his blood. As Mother Teresa said, "We are not called to be successful but faithful."
Questions for Reflection:
- Can I say that I give witness to Christ in my daily life?
- What prevents me from doing so?
- How does my new year's resolution reflect this?
