Weekly Reflection - 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time (2024)

"All good giving and every perfect gift is from above" (James 1:17)

This is the 22nd Sunday of Ordinary Time.  Each of us can say that all we have and are comes from God.  All the good comes from Him; the bad comes from us.  We have been given our freedom in order to freely love God. Our life is God's gift to us.  What we do with it is our gift to him.

Our relationship with Christ comes from the heart.  In any friendship, everything is important.  Our days normally consist of a series of moral decisions we make.  Every act is intentional.  Good acts result in a good person.  The opposite is also true.  We should be vigilant over our thoughts and keep custody over our heart.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Do I practice custody of the heart?
  • Do I recognize that every negative thought leaves a deposit within me?
  • In my relationship with Christ, do I realize that the smallest of my acts have significance?
