Weekly Reflection - 6th Sunday of Easter (2023)

"I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you." (Jn. 14:18)

This is the Sixth Sunday of Easter.  Christ is preparing his apostles for His departure.  There is a great amount of loneliness in our society today.  We were created by God to love and be loved.  There will come a point in our lives where appearances won't sustain us any more.  We need to dig deep in order to find the rock on which to build upon.

That rock is Christ.  Only He could find such a wonderful way to remain with us in the Eucharist.  The Holy Spirit abides within us as in a temple.  If we feel loneliness it's because we have not experienced God's loving presence in our lives.  Let our daily encounter with God in prayer be our priority and the time we most look forward to.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Have I experienced God's loving presence in my life?
  • If I feel lonely, have I created space in my life for God?
  • Do I recognize that the Holy Spirit abides in my baptized soul as in a temple?
