Father Michael's Weekly Reflection

Weekly Reflection - Pentecost Sunday (2026)

"To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit." (1 Cor. 12:7)

This is the Solemnity of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit pours charisms upon the Church. We are all part of the Mystical Body of Christ. God is creative and constantly gifts the members of the Church for its edification. There are as many vocations as there are specific, complementary qualities.

We are all coresponsable. All of us have received unique gifts and talents. Normally, these are discovered when we begin sharing them with others. We should be careful of false humility or thinking we are exempt from this task which belongs to all the baptized.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Have I discovered my God given gifts?
  • Do I work on them so they can build the Church or hide my talents and live only for myself?
