Weekly Reflection - 3rd Sunday of Lent (2026)
"And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." (Rom. 5:5)
This is the Third Sunday of Lent. We are now well into our Lenten journey. Each of us has been intimately loved by God. In our Soup for the Soul series we have been unpacking our relationship with God the Father. There is a problem of spiritual orphanhood in our world today.
Any Lenten privation must be the response of a child to our loving Father. There are areas of our life that might not be completely opened to him. We are to empty ourselves of ourselves so that Christ may take our place in us. We can say that virtue is loving Christ more than ourselves and sin loving ourselves more than Christ. Let us surrender fully to God and simply allow him to love us.
Questions for Reflection:
- Have I experienced God's love in my life?
- Are there areas of my life that I keep to myself?
- Am I convinced that whatever I give to God will be returned back to me one hundred fold?
