Weekly Reflection - 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

My dear Good Shepherd family members,
Today's readings beautifully illustrate God's mercy and the importance of gratitude. Naaman's healing from leprosy reminds us that God works through various "Elishas" in our lives – parents, siblings, friends, priests, and teachers – who guide us to obey God's word and experience healing.
St. Paul's words in 2 Timothy 2:8-13 reassure us that God's faithfulness remains unwavering, even when we falter. In the Gospel, the healing of the ten lepers highlights the significance of gratitude. Only one returned to thank Jesus, challenging us to be mindful of our blessings and express our gratitude to God.
The Mass is a celebration of gratitude, not just an obligation. As we participate in the Eucharist, let us remember to come with good intentions and prepared hearts, allowing the Lord's presence to transform us. May we strive to be like the one leper who returned to thank Jesus, recognizing the many gifts God has bestowed upon us. Let us redesign our spiritual journey to prioritize gratitude and obedience to God's word.
May this reflection inspire us to deepen our relationship with God and cultivate a heart of gratitude.
