Weekly Reflection - 15th Sunday of Ordinary Time

"Go, prophesy to my people Israel." (Amos 7:15)

The first reading this 15th Sunday of Ordinary Time presents us the prophet Amos.  God calls him out of his daily routine which was shepherding.  When confronted about his qualifications for the task, he does not hide his lack of preparation.

God chooses who he wants, for the reason he wants, for the length of time that he wants, just because he wants it.  We have also been chosen by God to be his prophets by our baptism.  He does not make mistakes.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Do I recognize God has called me just as I am?
  • If I feel unqualified for the task, do I pray more and study my faith?
  • Can I articulate my story of faith to others?
