"Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
This is the 3rd Sunday of Advent. We are asked to rejoice in the Lord's coming. There is a profound spirit of orphanhood in the world today. Even for believers, we can repeat with our lips that God is near but not experience His loving presence in our lives.
When we wish someone a Happy New Year, we imply that they suffer no contradictions and receive all they desire. The Holy Family shows us differently. They traversed the most extreme human contradictions and poverty but were assisted by God's powerful grace. We are never alone. We must allow God to love us.
Questions for Reflection:
- Amidst my difficulties and struggles, am I aware of God's loving presence in my life?
- Do I allow Him to love me?
- Am I capable of overcoming mood swings focusing on God's unchanging love for me?
