"I turn to you, Lord, in time of trouble, and you fill me with the joy of salvation." (Psalm 32 responsorial)
This is the Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time and World Marriage Day. We thank God for the wonderful sacrament of spousal love. Christ elevated the natural state of marriage to a supernatural one at the wedding at Cana. Each of us have been born into a family and without strong marriages, there are not strong families.
The family is considered the Domestic Church. The couple can be faithful to each other because of God's fidelity. God has promised to be with the man and woman from the day they pronounced their vows to each other. As in anything, we need to renew our love. The Lord has come to help marriages in need if they would only turn to Him. Couples that pray together stay together. Let us turn to God in our need and He will hear and answer us.
Questions for Reflection:
- Do I consider marriage as a vocation?
- As a couple, do we consider difficulties as opportunities to grow in love and the practice of virtue?
- Do I know that my children receive the fruit of a strong marital relationship?
