Father Michael's Weekly Reflection

Weekly Reflection - 2nd Sunday of Advent (2025)

My beloved “Good Shepherd” family members,

As we go through this Advent journey, we're reminded that salvation is a gift from God, yet we're called to cooperate with His grace. John the Baptist's words echo through the ages: "Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths." (Lk 3:4)

We're preparing for Christmas, but let's not forget the true meaning of this season. It's not just about celebrations and gifts; it's about preparing our hearts for the Lord's coming. As Angelus Silesius beautifully puts it, "Christ could be born a thousand times in Bethlehem – but all in vain until He is born in me."

Let's allow Jesus to be reborn in our hearts this Advent, radiating His love, kindness, and mercy to a world in need. Let's answer the call to change, to correct our relationships, and to live with justice and charity.

With the Psalmist, let’s  say, "Let your face shine upon us, O Lord, and give us your salvation." (Ps 72:17)  Let’s try to be vessels of His love, shining brightly in the darkness, guiding others to the Savior.

Blessings and Greetings.

Yours in Infant Jesus,

Fr. Davis Koottala
