Father Michael's Weekly Reflection

Weekly Reflection - 2nd Sunday of Lent (2026)

"From the shining cloud the Father's voice is heard: This is my beloved Son, hear him." (Mt. 17:5)

This is the Second Sunday of Lent. Jesus is Transfigured before the chosen Apostles. St. Peter will remember the moment later which was a revelation of Christ's divinity. God wants us to use our memory to remember the graces received and the undeniable experience of his love.

Unfortunately, we often use our memory to recall the unjust treatment we have received from others. We begin to doubt God's presence when we suffer. It's important during these moments to recall that God has never left us, is with us now and promises to remain with us. Jesus invites us to remember that the cross is simply the means to the Resurrection.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Do I remember frequently the graces I have received?
  • Do I waste time mulling over past hurts?
  • Do I practice the virtue of hope knowing that the light of Christ will follow moments of darkness?
