"Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give." (Mt. 10:8)
This is the 11th Sunday of Ordinary Time. Everything we have and are comes from God. The recognition of His gifts is the foundation of a life of Stewardship. We are called to be faithful administrators of all we have received. Our lives are gifts meant to be freely given.
The ways that we give back are traditionally known as time, treasure and talent. In a materialistic world, we often feel that we never have enough. Throughout the Gospel we are reminded to depend completely on God like the lilies of the field. Pope Francis reminds us that "I am a mission on this earth; that is the reason why I am here in this world. " (Joy of the Gospel)
Questions for Reflection:
- Do I realize that by loving God, I am actually loving myself?
- Am I generous in the sacrificial giving of my time, treasure and talent?
- Am I aware that I only discover my God given gifts when I give them away?
