Weekly Reflection - 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time (2024)

"Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you." (Jn. 6:53)

This is the 20th Sunday of Ordinary Time.  There is no doubt that God wants renewal in His Church.  Those who participated in the Eucharistic Congress whether physically or spiritually received grace.  The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith.  We are beginning to see the springtime in the Church that St. John Paul II longed for.

During the closing Mass, Bishop Cozzens invited each of us to "Walk with One."  More details can be found on the Revival website.  I am to close my eyes and think of one person I know who is estranged from the Church and invite them back.  The Holy Spirit is the protagonist in the way this is to be done.  We meet the person where they are at, accompany them and invite them to take the next step whatever that might be.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Is Christ my life?
  • Are those around me aware that I am a Christian by the life I lead?
  • Do I encourage others also by word when the opportunity arises?
