Weekly Reflection - 6th Sunday of Easter (2022)

"Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him." (Jn 14:23)

This is the Sixth Sunday of Easter.  Christ promises us the Holy Spirit.  He will lead us to all truth and teach us all things.  The Holy Trinity abides with us as in a temple.  We need to practice silence in order to recognize His indwelling presence.

Unfortunately, we pay more attention to the outside than the guest of our soul.  When we make the sign of the cross we are making an act of faith in this reality.  How our words and actions would change if we realized that we are constantly in God's presence.  Our prayer would become more real and we would look forward to spending time with God who constantly abides in our baptized soul.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Do I pay more attention to God or the constant noise around me?
  • Have I learned to practice silence in order to pay attention to His action in my soul?
  • Does the realization that God abides in my soul give me strength, comfort and illumination in times of need?
