Weekly Reflection - Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord

"Think of what is above, not of what is on earth." (Col. 3:2)

The Lord is truly risen. Alleluia!  We are Easter people.  Christ has opened the gates of paradise for us.  Even now we are made sharers of divine life by our Baptism.  Pope Leo the Great tells us "Christian recognize your dignity."

The reason for our hope is the mystery we are celebrating.  We cannot allow external circumstances to determine our joy.  The cross is only the means to the Resurrection.  We are to keep our gaze fixed upward.  If God is with us, who can be against us? Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ.  No one can pluck us from his hand.  We must not allow anything or anyone to rob us of our joy.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Do I keep a supernatural outlook on life?
  • Do I thank God often for allowing me to share his divine life?
  • Have I formed the habit of replacing negative thoughts with uplifting ones based on faith?
