Weekly Reflection - Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord (2023)

"He loved his own in the world and he loved them to the end." (Jn. 13:1)

Today is Holy Thursday which marks the beginning of the Sacred Triduum which is:  the Celebration of the Last Supper, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday.  These days are a compendium of the entire Gospel.  We are invited to accompany Jesus every step of the way.  Each of us has a debt of gratitude to Jesus for taking our place on the cross.

Even though Christ does this for us all, he thought of me personally as if I was the only person in the world.  We must never become indifferent or cold to have received so much love.  There is true strength in the Passion of Christ.  He not only teaches us the way to heaven but by his Pascal Mystery has merited the grace for each us us to follow him.  "By his wounds, we were healed." (Isaiah 53:5).

Questions for Reflection:

  • Do I plan to accompany Jesus in the liturgy during these Holy Days?
  • Do I recognize that there are special graces for me if I open my heart to him?
  • Have I identified the virtue that Jesus has that I most need?
