Weekly Reflection - Epiphany (2024)

"We saw his star at it's rising and have come to do him homage." (Mt. 2:2)

This Sunday is the Solemnity of the Epiphany.  We accompany the Magi in their journey for the Christ child.  In order to find Christ, we must look for him.  They saw the star which left no room for doubt, so they set out.  They did not calculate the length or the difficulties they would surely encounter.

There were moments of the journey where the star was no longer visible.  They continued with the hope it would appear once again.  The Magi were rewarded when they finally encountered Jesus with his mother Mary.  After their encounter with the Lord, they went back by a different way.  This is the same that happens in our lives.  We must search for the child daily and upon encountering Him we can no longer remain the same. We must change.

Questions for Reflection:
  • Do I seek the face of God daily?
  • When my faith is put to the test, do I continue knowing that God is still there?
  • Has my life changed after encountering the Lord?
