Weekly Reflection - The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (2023)

"For my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink." (Jn. 6:55)

This Sunday is the Solemnity of Corpus Christi.  We celebrate the great love Christ has for us in the Eucharist.  Along with the mystery of the Holy Trinity, the mystery of the Eucharist is only accessible by faith.  We believe not because we fully understand but because of the veracity of the one who reveals it.

Christ desires intimacy with us.  He has no longer called us servants but friends.  We come to know Jesus through contact with Him in the Gospels and the Eucharist.  He waits for us day and night in the tabernacle.  He invites all of us who are weary and find life burdensome to find light and strength for the journey.  We ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us more deeply the love Christ has for us and everything He wants to be for us.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Do I visit Christ in the Eucharist?
  • Do I share my life with Him by daily prayer?
  • Is my life Eucharistic where people receive what they need?
