Weekly Reflection - Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord (2023)

"He humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." (Phil. 2:8)

This weekend is Palm Sunday which marks the beginning of Holy Week.  The mysteries of Our Lord's Passion, Death and Resurrection are brought before our eyes again.  Our danger as Catholics is to become too accustomed with Christ or with what we think we know about him.

We must ask ourselves, "Who is this person?"  Jesus is the second person of the Holy Trinity.  Secondly, "For who and why does he suffer?"  He does it for me and my salvation. No one can remain indifferent and each of us have to give a personal response to Jesus.  Love is paid by love.

Questions for Reflection:

  • During my whole life, what have I done for Jesus?
  • What am I doing for him right now?
  • What am I not willing to do for him?
