Weekly Reflection - Solemnity of the Holy Trinity (2024)

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." (Mt. 28:19)

This Sunday is the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity.  God revealed himself to us.  In Jesus we see God incarnate showing us the face of the Father and the presence of the Holy Spirit.  In the Baptism of the Lord we see this clearly.

God is not who we think He is but rather who He says He is.  Divine Revelation is the rock we stand on.  We know that we are infinitely loved by a God who neither deceives nor can be deceived.  Even our sufferings take on meaning when united to the redemptive cross of the Lord.  We are orphans no longer being able to call God our Father.  The Holy Spirit is the spirit of Jesus living in us making up for our weaknesses and allowing us to look forward in hope to the world to come.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Do I recognize that I am a temple of the Holy Spirit?
  • When I make the sign of the cross do I remember this?
  • Do I lean on the presence of the indwelling Trinity in my needs and difficulties?
