Weekly Reflection - Christmas (2023)

"I proclaim to you good news of great joy:  today a Savior is born for us, Christ the Lord." (Lk. 2:10-11)

Christ our Savior is born!  The long awaited time is over.  Inside the heart of every person is a profound desire to love and be loved.  God our Father has sent us his own beloved Son to calm our restless hearts.  "But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name." (Jn 1:12). We are truly sons in the son, orphans no longer.

We simply have to allow God to love us.  We have all that we need.  It has been said that "what if what you are longing for is right under your nose?"  Every Eucharist is a new Bethlehem.  Emmanuel:  God is with us.  The infant Jesus has a Sacred Heart.  He gazes up at me from the crib and repeats the words he said to St. Margaret Mary; "At least you love me."

Questions for Reflection:

  • Does Christ have a place in my heart?
  • When I feel lonely, does the experience of Christ's love lift me up?
  • Am I convinced that He is all I need?
