NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLES
Couples who are interested in celebrating the Sacrament of Marriage in the Catholic Church are invited to begin the marriage preparation process well in advance of their desired wedding date. The Church requires a minimum of six (6) months of preparation prior to the wedding to allow sufficient time for spiritual formation, pastoral guidance, and completion of all required preparation components.
Marriage preparation includes meeting with the clergy or a parish advocate, participating in an approved Pre-Cana program, and fulfilling diocesan and parish requirements.
Couples are encouraged to contact the Parish Office as early as possible to begin this process and to receive detailed information regarding marriage preparation requirements and scheduling.
For more information, please contact the Parish Office at 916-684-5722.

PARISH-BASED PRE-CANA CLASS
This parish offers a full-day Pre-Cana marriage preparation program for engaged couples preparing to enter the Sacrament of Matrimony. This program is designed to assist couples in deepening their understanding of marriage as a lifelong, sacramental covenant, while fostering reflection, communication, and spiritual growth within the context of the Catholic faith.
We offer four (4) Pre-Cana classes a year, held on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and conclude with Holy Mass at 5:00 p.m. During the Mass, engaged couples will receive a special Engagement Blessing, asking God's grace and guidance as they prepare for married life.
The fee for the program is $250.00 per couple, which includes all instructional materials, meals, and participation in the full day of preparation.
Participation in this parish-based Pre-Cana program fulfills one of the marriage requirements and provides couples with a meaningful foundation for their vocation to married life.

CONVALIDATIONS
“A Convalidation is not simply a renewal of the previous intention to marry, but the creation of a valid marriage in the sight of the Christian community.” USCCB
A “convalidation ceremony” is a remedy for a marriage which has been impeded by some canonical defect. Catholics who exchange vows in the presence of ministers from other religious traditions or civil officials are not considered sacramentally married in the eyes of the Catholic Church. Couples who choose to bring their marriage into the Church receive many gifts – peace of heart, oneness with the Church, and the fullness of the sacraments.
Contact your Parish Advocate, Menchie Cabrera 916-683-2963 or ORE@gscceg.org to start the process of making your civil marriage valid in the Catholic Church.
Convalidation preparation needs to begin at least 6 months prior to the date of the convalidation ceremony.
ANNIVERSARIES
If you would like to have a blessing on your wedding anniversary please contact the parish office to arrange a blessing at the conclusion of one of our regularly scheduled Masses. You will need to provide a copy of your marriage certificate from the church where you were married.
Couples wishing to have a special Mass to celebrate a milestone anniversary (i.e., 10, 25, 50 years) should contact Menchie Cabrera, Parish Advocate, at 916-683-2963.
