If you love the Church, love history and have a penchant for learning, save this date – July 14 at 6:30 here at Good Shepherd. Monsignor Jim Murphy, Rector Emeritus of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, will join us to talk about his book "Saints and Sinners in the Cristero War." Hear about a saintly standout—Father Toribio Romo González— and his significant familial ties to Sacramento, and whose relic is placed in the altar at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Plus, learn of measures taken by the Knights of Columbus to support Catholics in Mexico. This free evening talk highlights a time of severe persecution of the Church in Mexico, its horrific physical and spiritual wounds, and the international stage leading up to, and following, the Cristero War of 1926-1929.
Monsignor Murphy's book can be purchased in advance from The Catholic Store or at the church on the evening of the presentation.
