Weekly Reflection - Pentecost Sunday (2025)

"And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were." (Acts 2:2)

This Sunday is the Solemnity of Pentecost. The coming of the Holy Spirit signified the birth of the Church. Because of the Holy Spirit we can proclaim that Jesus is Lord.  Each of us in our Baptism have received the Holy Spirit and in our Confirmation have been sealed with his gifts and charisms.

We are all co-responsible for the life of the Church. I have a mission different than yours and yours is different than mine. Each of us have been assigned part of the vineyard to cultivate.  When we say yes to God's call we discover the gifts we have received.  We are to share our gifts and connect them with the needs of the community. When this happens the Church flourishes.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Do I recognize that I have a specific mission in the Church?
  • Have I discovered my God given gifts?
  • Have I shared them generously with my community?
