Father Michael's Weekly Reflection

Weekly Reflection - Easter Sunday (2026)

"He loved his own in the world and he loved them to the end." (Jn. 13:1)

We have arrived at the Sacred Triduum, or the climax of Holy Week. Jesus lived his life with passion. A passionate love for the Father and for each of us motivated his life. The Bishop Fulton Sheen said that Jesus was the only person to come into the world to die. He wanted to drink the chalice to the dregs and shed every drop of his blood.

So many times in our lives we lose our purpose. The days blend together and we lose passion for life. Jesus was a man on a mission. His expiation on the cross was his declaration that all has been accomplished. By walking closely with Jesus all the way to the cross, we will have the flame of divine love renewed in our hearts. At the Easter Vigil we will experience his glorious Resurrection after sharing in his Passion and Death.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Is love the motivating factor in my life?
  • Do I calculate the sharing of my time, treasure and talent?
  • Am I convinced of the urgency to fulfill my mission each day so that others may live?
