Sacrament Preparation - Confirmation

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

- Acts 1:8

Sacramental Preparation for Confirmation for 2020-2021 will be conducted via remote, online access.  There will be no in-person classes.

Confirmation is the sacrament by which Catholics receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Through Confirmation, the Holy Spirit gives them the increased ability to practice their Catholic faith in every aspect of their lives and to witness Christ in every situation.

The preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is a 2-year program for students entering 7th – 11th grade who have already received the sacraments of Baptism & First Holy Eucharist.  Each catechetical year runs from September - May.

If you are an adult needing to complete the sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Eucharist and/or Confirmation, learn more about our RCIA Program.

Due to COVID-19, all Confirmation Preparation for the 2020-2021 catechetical year will be done remotely through distance learning.  We will be using the following curriculum and online platforms:

ONE EIGHT is a LIFE TEEN curriculum that prepares youth to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.  ONE EIGHT utilizes experiential, relational, and systematic methods that engage youth in their faith while presenting teachings that are doctrinally sound and rooted in the Catechism and Sacred Scripture.

GOOGLE CLASSROOM will be used to assign and turn in independent work and projects.  We will also use this platform for catechists and parents to track student progress throughout the year.  Students will be required to have a Gmail account.

CALL TO MERCY (St. Mary's Press) focuses on Catholic social justice and will be used in lieu of in-person service projects/hours.

PROJECT YM is an online Confirmation Retreat for Year 2 students only.

ZOOM (or other video conferencing platform) will be used for small group discussions with Core Team leader.

Confirmation Registration

The Core Team is a team of committed members of the Church who have chosen to volunteer their time, talents, and sometimes, even treasures, to minister to the middle school & high school youth who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Each Core Team Member is trained in basic youth ministry skills, from facilitating small groups to public speaking to leading prayer sessions. Above all, they are committed to forming relationships with the youth and being strong witnesses of the Catholic faith.

How to join:  Must be a High School, College, or Adult parishioner who has already received the Sacrament of Confirmation.  If you are interested or would like more information about joining Core Team, fill out the Core Team Interest Form and the Confirmation Coordinator will contact you.
