Weekly Reflection - Solemnity of the Ascension (2023)

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations." (Mt. 28:19)

This Sunday is the Solemnity of the Ascension.  Jesus left us only to open the gates of heaven.  The Church is the Lord's presence in the world now.  Each baptized Christian has been given the missionary mandate to make disciples.  We are His hands and feet in the world today.

We each have been given a part of the vineyard and are co responsible.  The Holy Spirit has equipped us for mission.  We have been given a spirit not of cowardice but of strength and power.  It is the power of love that wants to renew the face of the earth.  Have I caught fire yet?

Questions for Reflection:

  • Do I feel called to mission?
  • Who has heard my message?
  • Do I know how to tell the story of God's love in my life?
