Welcome to Faith Formation & Sacrament Preparation for 2026-2027
The information on this page pertains ONLY to CFF Families at Good Shepherd Parish (NOT St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School Families).

Good Shepherd Parish provides Faith Formation Classes for the following:
Children's Faith Formation Classes for Grades 1 - 6 
Sacrament Preparation for Baptism & First Holy Eucharist for Grades 1 - 12
Sacrament Preparation for Confirmation for Grades 7 - 12

If you have a child with Special Needs who needs the sacraments,
please contact the Office of Religious Education for a referral to our Diocesan Resources. 

Regarding Registration:

• Registrations are processed on a first come/first serve basis as they are received.
• Class availability is subject to change based on enrollment and available volunteer Catechists/Core Team.
• Documents will be required for children who were NOT registered in Good Shepherd's Faith Formation/Sacrament Preparation last year (2025-26).  See below for the list of documents required and have these documents completed (in the case of the Diocesan Youth Permission Form), scanned, and saved BEFORE you begin the online registration.  
• Please be aware: we strongly recommend you complete the online registration form on a laptop, desktop, or tablet, NOT on your phone due to formatting issues. 
• Please be aware: there is no "save progress" function to the registration form.  This form could take approximately 15 minutes per child to complete. 

Checklist BEFORE you begin the online Registration Form:

• Complete a Diocesan Youth Permission Form for each child being registered for 2026-27. 
  • Blank fillable PDF Diocesan Youth Permission Form
  • Save these saved/scanned files by each child's name & document type. Example: Smith_John_Youth Permission Form
  • When saving or scanning each child's Diocesan Youth Permission Form, you must save/scan all pages of this Permission Form as one document.  
• If this year you are registering a child who was NOT registered in Good Shepherd's Faith Formation / Sacrament Preparation program last year (2025-2026), you will need to scan and save the following documents to have ready when you are prompted to upload them on the online Registration Form: 
  • BIRTH certificate
  • BAPTISM certificate (if this sacrament has already been received and if it was received at another parish)
  • FIRST HOLY COMMUNION certificate (if this sacrament has already been received and if it was received at another parish)
  • Save these scanned files by the child's name & document type. Example: Smith_John - Birth Certificate
• For any children being registered for CONFIRMATION Preparation, you will also need the following:
  • A GMAIL Address for the Primary Parent (necessary for Google Classroom and communications)
  • A GMAIL Address for the Teen - this must be different from the Parent's GMAIL Address (necessary for Google Classroom and communications).
  • Both the Parent's and the Teen's GMAIL Addresses must display your FIRST & LAST name (NO nicknames, aliases, emojis, titles, or roles)
• Acceptable document file formats for uploading to the Registration Form include .pdf, .png and .jpg files (up 10 MB per upload). 
  • If any document is multiple pages, it must be scanned as one file (Example: Diocesan Youth Permission Form).  The Registration Form will not allow you to upload multiple single pages for one document. 
  • If you need assistance scanning multiple pages into a single document, contact the Office of Religious Education and we can assist you. 
• Map out your family's Faith Formation classes using the class schedule below.  The class options you see on the form are tailored for each child based on how you answer the questions so please read and answer the questions carefully.
• Verify the family registration fee and if applicable, the sacrament preparation fees, for your family based on the registration & fee schedule below.  
• Acceptable forms of payment for the online registration form are debit/credit card only.  You will not be able to submit your registration form without payment.
• If you have any questions, contact the Office of Religious Education (916-683-2963) BEFORE you begin the registration.  You cannot save your progress once you start the form.

2026-2027 FAITH FORMATION CLASS OPTIONS

Unbaptized children ages 0 - 6: Contact Luz Reyna in the Parish Office to inquire about Baptism at 916-684-5722.
Unbaptized children ages 7 and older: Will have a different faith formation path than baptized children.  Contact Menchie Cabrera in the Office of Religious Education at 916-683-2963.
Baptized Seniors in High School who need First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation: Will have a different faith formation path than other teens.  Contact Menchie Cabrera in the Office of Religious Education at 916-683-2963.

FOR ALL BAPTIZED CHILDREN...

First Holy Communion Preparation & General Grade Level Catechesis Classes:

• Children in Grades 1 & 2 who are in their first year of preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion will sign up for the the FHC Year 1 - Grades 1 and 2 (combo) class this year.  
  Class Options to choose from for this class:

  • Tuesdays 4:00 - 5:30 PM
  • Tuesdays 6:00 - 7:30 PM
  • Thursdays 4:00 - 5:30 PM
     
• Children in Grades 3 - 6 who are in their first year of preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion will sign up for their grade level general catechesis class this year. 
  Class Options to choose from for this class:
  • Tuesdays 4:00 - 5:30 PM
  • Tuesdays 6:00 - 7:30 PM
  • Thursdays 4:00 - 5:30 PM
     
• Children in Grades 3 - 6 who have already received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion and are enrolling in ongoing faith formation will sign up for their grade level general catechesis class this year.
  Class Options to choose from for these classes:
  • Tuesdays 4:00 - 5:30 PM
  • Tuesdays 6:00 - 7:30 PM
  • Thursdays 4:00 - 5:30 PM
     
• Teens in Grades 7 - 11 who are in their first year of preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion will sign up for the Teen Sacrament Preparation (TSP) Year 1 (combo) class this year.
  Only Class Option for this class:
  • Tuesdays 6:00 - 7:30 PM
     
• Children in Grades 2 & 3 who are in their second year of preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion will sign up for the FHC Year 2 - Grades 2 and 3 (combo) class this year. 
  Class Options to choose from for this class:
  • Tuesdays 4:00 - 5:30 PM
  • Tuesdays 6:00 - 7:30 PM
  • Thursdays 4:00 - 5:30 PM
     
• Children in Grades 4 - 6 who are in their second year of preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion will sign up for the FHC Year 2 - Grades 4, 5 and 6 (combo) class this year. 
  Only Class Option for this class:
  • Tuesdays 6:00 - 7:30 PM

Confirmation Preparation Classes

• Teens in Grade 7 who are in the first year of Confirmation Preparation will sign up for the Conf Prep Year 1 - Gr. 7 class this year.
  Class Options to choose from for this class:
  • Mondays 6:15 - 8:30 PM
  • Thursdays 6:15 - 8:30 PM
     
• Teens in Grade 8 who are in the first year of Confirmation Preparation will sign up for the Conf Prep Year 1 - Gr. 8 class this year. 
  Class Options to choose from for this class:
  • Mondays 6:15 - 8:30 PM
  • Thursdays 6:15 - 8:30 PM

• Teens in High School who are in the first year of Confirmation Preparation will sign up for the Conf Prep Year 1 - H.S. class this year. 
  Class Options to choose from for this class:
  • Mondays 6:15 - 8:30 PM
  • Thursdays 6:15 - 8:30 PM

• Teens in Grade 8 who are in the second year of Confirmation Preparation will sign up for the Conf Prep Year 2 - Gr. 8 class this year. 
  Class Options to choose from for this class:
  • Mondays 6:15 - 8:30 PM
  • Thursdays 6:15 - 8:30 PM

• Teens in High School who are in the second year of Confirmation Preparation will sign up for the Conf Prep Year 2 - H.S. class this year. 
  Class Options to choose from for this class:
  • Mondays 6:15 - 8:30 PM
  • Thursdays 6:15 - 8:30 PM

FEE SCHEDULE for 2026-27

Families will pay a Family Registration Fee and additional Sacrament Preparation Fees may apply if your child(ren) is enrolled in a Sacrament Preparation class this year.

A registration discount may be applied for approved CFF Catechist & Confirmation Core Team families.
