"My Kingdom does not belong to this world." (Jn 18:36)
Today is the last Sunday of the Liturgical Year; The Solemnity of Christ the King. It is a day in which we renew our baptismal promises and acknowledge Christ as King of our hearts and lives. If we say that Christ is our King, there can be no aspect of our life that is not under his gentle yoke. Christ warns us that we cannot serve two masters and we are either for him or against him.
In Baptism, he purchased us at a great price, that of his precious blood. The world may not acknowledge his kingship but that doesn't mean that he will not have the last word at the end of time. Christ assures us that "In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world." (Jn 16:33)
Questions for Reflection:
- Am I convinced that by belonging to Christ, nothing can truly harm me?
- Does my fear have to do with not acknowledging Christ's kingship in my life?
- Is there an aspect of my life that I have not submitted to him?
