Weekly Reflection - Anniversary of the Dedication of the Cathedral

"So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God." (Ephesians 2:19)

This Sunday is the Anniversary of the Dedication of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament.  Recently the people of God of Sacramento participated in the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Rey Bersabal.  It was truly an experience of unity in our Church.

We are orphans no longer.  We once were no people and now we are God's people. We are living stones in God's building and members of Christ's Mystical Body.  St. John Paul II shared his vision of a spirituality of communion where the success or failure of one member affects everyone.  In a time when we easily blame others for the negative we see, each of us must become ourselves the change we want to see in the world.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Do I thank God for the gift of the Catholic Church?
  • Have I discovered my God given gifts and put them at the service of my Parish Community?
  • Do I seek holiness as the means to renew the Church?
