Father Michael's Weekly Reflection

Weekly Reflection - Solemnity of St. Peter & Paul, Apostles (2025)

"I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith." (2 Tim. 4:7)

This Sunday is the Solemnity of St. Peter and St. Paul. This entire month of June we have seen God's love for us. Both St. Peter and St. Paul are the pillars on which our Church was founded. "The love of Christ urges us on" is the motivating factor which enabled both of them to live and die for him. Each of them had a profound encounter with Christ and lived in friendship with him.

St. Paul boasts in his weakness and St. Peter didn't consider himself worthy to be crucified in the same manner of Christ. They both came to believe profoundly that their strength was the strength of Christ and without him, they could do nothing. St. Paul exclaimed "My life is Christ." May contemplating the life of these heroes of our faith help us persevere in our own faith until the end.

Questions for Reflection:

  • Can I say that Christ is my life?
  • Do I consider all other things as rubbish?
  • Is there anything or anyone who is distracting me from following him?
